CLIENT:VT Agency of Transportation

LOCATION: Morrisville, VT

G.W. Tatro completed two separate contracts for the VT Agency of Transportation at the Morrisville- Stowe State Airport. The first entailed extending Runway 1-19 by 250 ft in each direction to allow for an additional runway safety area. The second was for the construction of a new 1,500 ft parallel taxiway. Both projects required the use of a runway shutdown period to safely complete the work, therefore, the contracts were constructed simultaneously to shorten the overall closure period and allow for the airport to reopen sooner for the busy summer months. The two projects’ scopes included over 30,000 CY of excavation, 17,000 CY of sub-base gravel, 4,000 tons of asphalt, plus electrical, line striping, concrete pavement, and the removal of the existing fuel farm.
